When I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries syndrome PCOS (Hormonal disorder) in 2013, it seemed my world had crashed especially being a newly-wed. After the first few weeks of sadness, I began researching what I could do to help myself.

Lifestyle Changes

Research lead me to realise I had to make changes to my diet and lifestyle choices. Major among these changes was the awareness that I had to avoid endocrine disruptors. Parabens, phthalates, BPA etc But they were in practically everything on the shelves available to me!

After trawling the shelves of major stores in Accra, I concluded that I needed something I could trust. Thus began the journey to rediscover the skin and hair care ingredients of our African forebears.

Shea butter/Nkuto/Yorkumi/Ori has been used by my grandmothers and ancestors for centuries without problems. In fact, it is the preferred salve for newborn babies in Africa to date.
